Bellarine and Greater Geelong Kids are designed for anyone who has the pleasurable company of kids. Particularly, parents, guardians, carers, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and siblings who live in or are visiting the Bellarine or Geelong area and who would like some help with finding anything and everything local for their children to explore, eat, play, see or shop.
Our live website www.bellarinekids.com.au is currently a great hub for advertising local retail or hospitality businesses, homemade clothing, baking, toy lines, groups, children's programs etc, and is guaranteed an easy site for users to navigate. Greater Geelong Kids and Great Ocean Road Kids will also be linked to Bellarine Kids and all three will work together to promote the local goodness that the Greater Geelong area provides.
Bellarine Kids joined Facebook on July 14th, 2011, and now has over 900 organic members, plus another 450+ business (page) members! Stacey has received positive feedback via posts on Facebook, personal emails and after speaking to a few business owners. This page has started to link members and child friendly services and businesses within the Bellarine community, and has re directed user’s to businesses and also to the Bellarine Kids website. In this time, with the help of the great social network site Facebook and also through word of mouth, magazine, newspaper and flyer exposure our website stats have doubled since January 2013!
Whilst ‘word of mouth’ is fantastic, it is easy to forget the name of that place or that business that is having lunch specials or where/when the next children's market is! When I have sat with fellow parents at a Mother's Group or simply on a park bench watching the children play, I have noticed how similar conversations inevitably occur. I have found that people are more than willing to share their expertise when asked and that there is an abundance of local talent and resources right here within our community. It's great to know where that 'home-made' dress came from or even where to get your child's first haircut.
Along with Bellarine Kids, Greater Geelong Kids will be an information portal that contains all of the answers to the things parents and caregivers like to know. A quick search on an unplanned day could also result in: the location of a new recreational park, identification of a great local business deal such as a two for one smoothie at a nearby café, and a reminder that Storytime is on at the local library. Thanks to Greater Geelong Kids, an unplanned day could easily turn into a busy and fulfilling morning!
My name is Sam and I spent a lot of my childhood in Ocean Grove before venturing off to explore the world for many years. Now that I’ve settled back in Geelong and can see this fantastic region through the eyes of my active and guitar obsessed 2 year old, I am discovering just how much it has to offer families. After working in big cities for most of my life, we love being out and about and exploring this great area we live in.
I am really enjoying the sense of community and support that Geelong offers, and discovering all the fantastic small businesses (often family run) that are out there. Following on from the great success and feedback from our sister website Bellarine Kids, Greater Geelong Kids has been developed to extend the reach of information and we are excited to bring it to you!
